Consort Sherwood

Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson,

Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson,
In 1919 a middle-aged Chicago advertising writer from Ohio, a failure as a businessman, husband, consort sherwood and father, published a slim yellow book of short stories intended to "reform" American literature. Sherwood Anderson strove to portray the buried inner lives of "pathetic grotesques" - people wounded by life in body or spirit - consort sherwood and to tell their stories in short revelations rather than in sweeping novels. Against all expectations, Winesburg Ohio: A Group of Tales of Ohio Small Town Life accomplished what its author intended. Afterwards, American literature would be written consort sherwood and read differently. Writers of short fiction learned from Anderson to achieve both character-centered form consort sherwood and daring Modernist subject matter. Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio, authorized by the Sherwood Anderson Literary Estate Trust, is an expert text, in that Ray Lewis White has consulted all Anderson manuscripts, typescripts, letters, diaries, consort sherwood and all editions of the book to present the masterpiece as it was intended. White's edition also is informed by his 35 years of experience in editing, studying, consort sherwood and appreciating Sherwood Anderson consort sherwood and his fiction. New to this edition of Winesburg, Ohio are historical consort sherwood and cultural annotations, documentation of changes of various editions, identification of the Ohio originals of Anderson's characters; consort sherwood and maps of the real town of Clyde, in North Central Ohio, which was the basis of Anderson's fictional account. Included as well are unique photographs of Anderson consort sherwood and Clyde that deepen knowledge consort sherwood and feeling for the author's time consort sherwood and his work.

Afterburner: Naval Aviators and the Vietnam War

Afterburner: Naval Aviators and the Vietnam War
Through stories like this diary entry of a fighter pilot, John Darrell Sherwood brings forth the personal accounts of 21 naval consort sherwood and marine aviators in this chronicle of the second half of the Navy's air war over Vietnam. Despite spending over 200 billion dollars consort sherwood and dropping almost 8 million tons of bombs on Southeast Asia, the U.S. was unable to score a definitive victory in the air war. Afterburner takes us inside the day-to-day operations of the air war, particularly during the most intense year of the campaign: 1972. During that year, North Vietnam launched the first large-scale conventional attacks on strongholds in South Vietnam. Sherwood shows how the U.S. fought back with some of the most innovative air campaigns in its history, including Nixon's Linebacker bombings consort sherwood and the Navy's mining operation in Haiphong Harbor. From duels with enemy MiGs to the experiences of Commander C. Ronald Polfer, who became the voice of reason among American POWs in the Hanoi Hilton's Room 5, the detailed stories in Afterburner make these historical events come to life. Sherwood compiles consort sherwood and analyzes an incredible breadth of information about the details of each of the Navy's operations during the air war consort sherwood and then relates the key parts of the narrative through the eyes of a pilot or flight officer involved in each action. Through tales of courage consort sherwood and fear, triumph consort sherwood and horror, Sherwood reveals the lives of common airmen who performed extraordinary service. Their experiences illustrate the personal nature of war--even from the air--and show that the air war in Vietnam may have begun as a slow burn, but by 1972, it was more intense than an F-4 afterburner.
